Nothing….. all cancelled……gone……all vanished ….. in the blink of a Covid! 😥 😥 😥 I would normally, at this time of year, be manic getting things organised for our annual Christmas Fair at The Springfield…. I miss being manic, I miss the buzz, I miss the people, the chatter, even handing out mince pies and mulled wine.  On the positive side you can buy directly from this website or via my facebook page. Open Studios, internationally renowned music ensembles, inspiring exhibitions, and fascinating talks come together for this year’s Purbeck Art Weeks Festival.

The annual celebration of the arts takes place in beautiful venues across Purbeck on the stunning Jurassic coast – a magnet for over a century for artists and those who love the beauty and character of this part of Dorset.

      

There will be ten of us showing our work and what an amazing and eclectic mix it will be, so make sure you come and see us in The Shoot Room on the amazing Lulworth Castle Estate.

ART AHOY! DORSET EXHIBITION HELD ON CROSS-CHANNEL FERRY

FIFTEEN artists from across Dorset, including four from Purbeck, have taken to the high seas. Tony Kerrins and Sharon James from Swanage, Annie Lovelass from Lulworth and Graham Lindsay Towler from Wareham are exhibiting their work on Brittany Ferries’ ship the Barfleur on the Poole to Cherbourg crossing.

My little boat ‘Seen Better Days’ is sailing across the Channel …. who would have thought!!!!!

Purbeck Art Weeks

So pleased to be sharing the two weeks with these wonderfully creative people:-  Debbie Pool- Jewllery,  Gilly Lovelass – hand made bags and purses, Lynne Dinmore – ceramics, Lar Smits- painting, Sophie Weld-Davies- candles etc, Guy Pool- photography and Dan Rushton – wild life photography.

The Shoot Room is a fabulous location – a bit off the beaten track, but well worth the effort. We have free parking and disabled access. Tea and Coffee available but please bring your own cake.

                

Dorset Art’s & Craft’s – Friday 3rd – Tuesday 7th August at Purbeck School, Wareham.

The Association was registered as a charity in 1967 and supports local artists and craft workers through the annual exhibition and through the awarding of a bursary to groups or individuals.

This is an amazing annual exhibition of local Art & Crafts – so many creative and talented people doing wonderful work.

I have been invited again to Wareham Art Club in March. I thoroughly enjoyed my last visit there…………I shall have to think of something quite different to do this time!!!

I have to say Wareham Art Club are a very friendly and welcoming group. It was lovely to return there.

I decided to take along 4 different canvas’s ( I have a dread of turning around and everyone has fallen asleep!!!!) all about water.

                        3. Cardigan Bay    

                                      4. Plain black canvas for playing

Each with a different colour palette but same basic theme of water.

I thoroughly enjoyed my evening, I hope everyone else did as well.

Dorset Arts and Crafts Association, which is dedicated to the promotion of traditional and modern arts and crafts. The Association holds an exhibition each year, with fine art and photographic displays, hundreds of crafts exhibits, Have-A-Go sessions for children and numerous crafts stalls.

Well, here we go, another year…….. 

Thank you again to everyone who bought my work and to those of you who supported me generally during the past twelve months. It was an interesting year with all the usual highs and lows, frustrations and joys, acceptances and rejections. Let’s hope 2015 will be a good one in every way.

This is such a good art & craft exhibition, it covers such a wide range of crafts and skills – so if you are anywhere near Purbeck School you should take the time to look around.    

 Always the dilemma is which work to show, up to a maximum of five!

I was thrilled to have won visitors favorite painting a couple of years ago with this work-       fingers crossed for this year!

It’s going to be a very traditional ‘affair’, with everything Dorset local and hand/home made…..nothing mass produced.                                         To tickle your taste buds……there will be original art work from yours truly as well as Peter Cherry, Esme James, Lar Smits and Roy Aplin. Individually designed and handmade jewellery by Debbie Pool, very tactile wood turned items by Peter Allen and Nick Strowbridge will be showing a range of his original leather work….. to name but a few. As an added bonus some of our exhibitors will be demonstrating their crafts over the two days, plus it’s a great chance to support local artists and makers.

It was such a nice event, great exhibitors and visitors. Thanks to everyone.

Lulworth Arts – Easter Exhibition ‘Marine’ – Finleys, West Lulworth – 28th March – 7th April 2013. Open 10.00am – 5.00pm.

Good exhibition and met some interesting people.

The Tuesday Club –  Purbeck Art Weeks – (www.purbeckartweeks.co.uk) 25th May – 9th June 2013 at The Springfield Country Hotel, Stoborough nr Wareham (http://www.thespringfield.co.uk)  Open from 11.00am- 4.00pm. There will be a dozen or so artists taking part exhibiting a range of work, including painting, sculpture, photography, jewellery and floral design….. so something for everyone.

We are having a really good week here, meeting some great people and have brilliant comments in our visitors book……. very encouraging for everyone. 

As a new group and a new venue for PAW it was an interesting learning curve. We had roughly 700 visitors over the two weeks and lots of encouraging comments. Look forward to next year!

The Summer Arts & Crafts week is presented by Purbecks ‘Tuesday Club’ – who are developing a reputation for producing fine quality work – will have the artists displaying and selling their beautiful and unique work. In addition there will be demonstrations of the various crafts – acrylic painting, jewellery making and wood turning throughout the week, art materials for sale as well as original photography, prints & cards.
